Digipak Draft 5 - CD & Spine

To finalise our digpak, we created a CD and the spine. It did not take long to create the spine, as the fonts were the same as those used throughout the mag ads and the rest of the digipak, and the only image included was the Virgin record company logo. We have saved this image as a PNG with a transparent background to ensure we can layer this image onto the final product so that it does not cover the other images.

As for the CD, this took longer to create as we needed to crop the image into a circle then position it correctly, before cutting out the middle section too. We chose an image of the group laying down with their heads in the middle as we felt that this worked effectively and that the framing was alternative and so provides extra visual variety to the digipak. Having an image like this provided us with more scope with the editing of the image, to end up with an effective CD. We cropped the image into a full circle and saved this as a new image. We then added this image to a new Photoshop file, and cropped out a cirlce in the middle, to make a CD shaped image. Because the dresses are burgundy/pinky shades, we thought it would look better to make the font the same pink as the text on the back of the digipak, as this contributes to the continiuty of this particular aspect of the final piece. Because it is the same shade of pink that has been used elsewhere, it also means that it can link in with the rest of the product and mag ads, too.
